Texas Foundation Awards $76 Million in Grants

Since 1953, the Communities Foundation of Texas has awarded $1.3 billion in grant money for non-profits in the areas of education, health care, social services and arts. In 2013, the foundation awarded $76 million in charitable grants.

The foundation manages more than 900 charitable funds. There are three primary areas in which businesses may apply for grant funding. These inlude Community Impact Grants that focus on helping low-income families and middle-school youth; Caruth Foundation Grants focusing in the areas of medical and scientific research, public safety, and education; and Letter of Inquiry (LOI) Grants that include 8 areas such as animals, elderly, health and environment.

Eligible businesses must be non-profits located in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton or Rockwall Counties, Texas. Businesses who have at least 50 percent of their employees living in one or more of these counties are also eligible to apply. The grants are for organizations and not individuals. Deadlines apply for the Community Impact Grants and LOI Grants. Caruth Foundation Grants are awarded on an ongoing basis.

The Communities Foundation of Texas was founded in 1953 as Dallas Community Chest Trust Fund. Through donations from organizations throughout the world, the foundation is able to support the needs of communities throughout North Texas.
