Free Training Programs for Small Businesses Can Help Them Win More Government Contracts

It's no secret that winning a contract to do business with the federal government is a huge boost for any small business entrepreneur. But it's also difficult to accomplish. In Montgomery County,  Maryland, help is being offered in the form of free training programs.

What the training programs do for small businesses

The county’s Department of Economic Development recently received a grant that has enabled them to offer free training sessions to small businesses. The sessions will provide information and training that will increase the chances for small businesses to win Small Business Innovation Research contracts and grants.

About the programs

Each program will focus on a different government office. Previous training programs have focused on research grants through the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense and National Science Foundation. The county plans to continue the program through 2015 and continue to provide training and support for local small businesses.

How to qualify

Small businesses do not have to be located directly in Montgomery County, but they do need to be established as legal corporate enterprises. All interested business owners are encouraged to register for the free training sessions as early as possible. Registration for 2015 training sessions will open in July of 2014.
