Cox Communications Awards $135,000 in Grants to Non-Profits
Cable television giant Cox Communications, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, recently awarded grants totaling $135,000 to non-profit organizations in Virginia whose programs support youth, education and technology. The grants were awarded through the Cox Charities grants program.

Non-profit organizations located throughout Roanoke, Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia received grants of $5,000 or $10,000 each. A total of 15 organizations were awarded grants.

Programs that were supported with grants covered a wide variety of initiatives, such as literacy, summer learning programs for low-income families, mentoring for single-parent families, software training, and programs to improve education in STEM fields -- science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Cox Communications is a privately owned subsidiary of Cox Enterprises that provides digital cable television, telecommunications and Home Automation services in the U.S. It is the third-largest cable television provider in the United States. The grants are part of the company's annual charity program that contributes more than $6 million to support communities where it has a business presence.
