Clean Energy Entrepreneurs May Be Eligible For Grants Up To $300,000
Small businesses focused on clean energy technology may be eligible for grants up to $300,000. The grants are being offered by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) who just received more than $5 million in federal funds. The company plans to use the money to help clean-energy entrepreneurs get their products to market.

More than 100 businesses will receive grants

The U.S. Department of Energy's Small Business Vouchers Pilot program recently awarded $5.6 million to Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). ORNL is a science and technology national laboratory managed for the United States Department of Energy (DOE) and is the largest science and energy national laboratory in the Department of Energy system. The federal funding will be used by ORNL to award vouchers of $50,000 to $300,000 per small business who collaborate with them on research projects.

Eligible projects

The research projects can include developing clean-energy technologies in advanced manufacturing, buildings, vehicles, wind, water, bioenergy, fuel cells, geothermal and solar. Small businesses are required to fund 20 percent of the projects themselves; ORNL will provide resources that include materials, prototyping, testing, engineering designs and scale-up of samples.

The grant program will include three cycles of grant competition that will occur through 2016. Applications for the grant program will be available later this year.
