United Way Windsor Offering $5K Grants

The United Way and Economic Development Corporation in Windsor-Essex want to improve local neighborhoods around Windsor and Essex County, so they have created a Neighborhood Small Business Grant program. The program offers four $5,000 grants to support the launch of small businesses in priority neighborhoods.

Eligibility

Small businesses must have a business plan, secured space, and agree to provide in-kind service or volunteerism to support their community and become a champion and anchor in their neighborhood. The grants are offered to encourage small business owners to set up shop in what members call priority neighborhoods.

Research by United Way discovered that some neighborhoods are struggling to remain vital. Their situation would greatly benefit from the presence of small businesses. The partnership will award four grants, each worth $5,000. The grants are part of a broad-based community and economic revitalization program.

Application deadline is July 1, 2017.
