What To Know

Microsoft Workforce Development

Software giant, Microsoft, supports IT training and workforce development in urban and underserved communities. They give cash grants and software to non-profit community technology centers around the world.

By working with partners to create relevant training opportunities and innovative tools for people who are underserved by technology, they aim to help foster social and economic opportunities that change people's lives and transform communities.

Their employability and workforce development programs support organizations that work to ensure that individuals have the IT skills they need to succeed in the twenty-first century workplace.

Since the Community Technology Skills Program began in 2003, Microsoft has provided more than US$350 million in cash and software grants to more than 1,000 community partners. These donations have supported over 40,000 technology centers in more than 100 countries/regions.

Microsoft also supports nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) that are focused on employability and workforce development. Many of these partners operate community technology centers (CTCs) which are found in various locations, from remote villages to major metropolitan areas.
