Business owners engaged in health and human services in Central Iowa are getting welcome support from the Principal Financial Group Foundation. This non-profit organization, part of the Principal Financial Group, a global investment management leader, is recognizing companies for their contributions toward improving the lives of communities in Central Iowa by awarding them grant funding.
The Foundation awards grants quarterly to companies whose focus is on Health and Human Services, Education, Arts and Culture, Civic, Community, and Environment. They have awarded nearly $90 million in financial support since 2000 to companies who have improved lives and communities through their efforts in these areas.
Some examples of the type of services some of the companies have done to earn grants include oral health services, vision screening for children, financial management education for older low- to moderate-income adults with disabilities, computer eduction and skills, and human service programs for minorities.
A total of 82 organizations in Central Iowa received $634,500 in grants from the Principal Financial Group Foundation in the first quarter of 2012.
