Business Grants For Black Women In Atlanta Area

African American women in Gwinett County Georgia, a county in the Atlanta metropolitan area, are eligible to apply for two $1,000 business grants. The program is called "Economic Success = Partnership Grant", and the funding will be awarded as a joint effort from the Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and The Gwinnett Pearls of Service Foundation.

Designed to enhance the prosperity of start-up and newly established African American women-owned businesses, the grants will be awarded to non-traditional entrepreneurs in an effort to help them reach their greatest potential and achieve goals in delivering quality products to the Gwinnett County community and beyond.

To be eligible, applicants must operate a newly established business or a start-up business in the county and must have a business license. They must also be members of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.

Applications must meet specified criteria and be postmarked no later than August 30, 2010. The grants will be awarded on September 30, 2010 and recipients are expected to comply with reporting requirements.

Major cities in Gwinnett County include: Lawrenceville, Duluth, Snellville, Allendale, Buford, Mechanicsville, Forest Hills, Norcross, Sugar Hill, and more.
