In addition to the grant money, winners will receive free office space rent for one year, and free legal, accounting and HR services donated by local professional organizations that include law firms, accountants and human resource companies.
PDC is announcing the grant program to develop the Produce Row area, now an industrial area, into a center for high technology. To encourage more small businesses to consider the location for their startups, the PDC has budgeted another $80,000 for renovations to office buildings and spaces.
Applications are being accepted now through April 4. Grant winners will be announced in May. The grants offer the city an opportunity to increase startups in the city, particularly small technology companies that are mainly located downtown.
