About the 8(a) Business Development Program
The 8(a) Business Development Program is a business assistance program developed by the SBA specifically for small disadvantaged businesses. The 8(a) Program offers a broad scope of assistance to companies that are at least 51 percent owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals.
About the grant
Up to 10 grants ranging from $150,000 to $250,000 will be awarded, and up to two to small businesses. The specialized programs eligible for grants include specialized training, executive education, and tools to promote business development. Businesses eligible for grants include both for-profit and non-profit service providers including universities, trade and professional associations, firms, small businesses and other organizations.
Eligibility
Organizations must be in business for at least three years, must have experience in providing services to small businesses, and must understand issues relating to small businesses. Deadline to apply is July 22, 2014.
