Every year, the Small Business Innovative Research Program, part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, awards grants to companies for their work and achievements in green technology. The coveted SBIR grants are always seeking small businesses to fund.
Recently the EPA awarded two grants, each at $100,000, to two companies in the California Bay Area.
21 Small Businesses Receive Funding
The California companies are two of the total 21 companies so far who have received funding from the EPA for their work in the development of sustainable and innovative products and processes. The purpose of the grants is to increase technological innovation and commercialization within the private sector, and encourage participation by disadvantaged and women-owned small businesses.
More funding available
The recent grant awards were given as part of Phase I of the program. Winning companies may apply for further funding, up to $300,000, in Phase II.
