The state of Tennessee has a special program for small business owners called the Phase 0/00 Program. This program helps small businesses in Tennessee increase their chances of getting approved for Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBTR) grants and contract funding.
SBIR and STTR are federal programs that give funding to small businesses who specialize in high technology research fields. Businesses who qualify must have developed innovative programs that will have a high potential for commercial success in high technology areas. The federal programs provide research funding based on the qualifications of applicants.
The LaunchTN's Phase 0/00 Program works with small businesses to evaluate their potential for successfully qualifying for the federal grants. The program pays for support services in applying for the grants.
The SBIR/STTR grant program has two phases; Phase I awards are up to $150,000 for six months. Phase II grants follow Phase I and awards research grants up to $1 million for two years. This makes the Tennessee Phase 0/00 Program extremely valuable to small business research firms by increasing their ability to secure government funding.
