Small business growth across the state of North Carolina is being stimulated through the annual One North Carolina Small Business Matching Funds Program. Eligible small businesses have until June 30, 2016, to apply for a grant up to $50,000.
Eligibility
Eligible companies include those who have received either federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) or Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant awards. The State of North Carolina will provide matching grants of up to $50,000 to these companies through the One North Carolina Small Business Matching Funds Program.
The grant program was created to help small businesses develop and commercialize innovative new technologies and take them into global markets. Supporting small business also helps to increase job growth across the state.
Similar grant programs has been introduced in other states such as South Carolina, Kentucky and Virginia, according to The Department of Commerce. Since One North Carolina Small Business Matching Funds Program was initiated in 2013, the program has awarded 51 grants totaling nearly $2.5 million to small businesses in North Carolina.
