NASA To Award Up To $47.7 Million To Small Technology Companies
Small technology companies and research institutes across the country are being rewarded for their innovative efforts in technology that support NASA space projects. A total of 381 proposals from small businesses were chosen by NASA to receive contracts from NASA totaling $47.7 million.

How small companies are supporting space projects

The small companies were chosen for their ideas and products that will help develop new systems for future missions to Mars and asteroids. Some of the proposals included software programs to improve communications, robotics, and water recovery systems. Grants will be awarded through NASA’s Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer initiatives.

The proposals chosen by NASA were selected based on their technical merit and the experience and qualifications of the companies. NASA also included in their evaluation the commercial potential for the projects submitted. The grants will be awarded in three phases, with each firm required to successfully complete one phase before submitting a proposal for the next phase.
