Entrepreneurs around the country will have a chance to pitch their business plan and win a $250,000 business grant. The competition is open now until August 1, 2013.
Small businesses with less than 500 employees, less than $5 million in net income for the previous fiscal year, and less than $15 million net assets may submit their business plan. A business can be one business that has been in operation for less than five years, or it can be two groups of at least two persons with a business idea. All applicants must be at least 21 years old and U.S. citizens.
Twenty-five semi-finalists will be chosen from all applications. The semi-finalists will be asked to submit a video presentation of their pitch. The five top businesses receiving the most votes will go on to the final competition where they appear in person to pitch their idea. Grand prize is $250,000, and five finalists receive prizes of $20,000.
