Small businesses with fewer than 50 employees located in the state of Vermont have until January 21, 2014 to apply for a Green Thumbs at Work Grant. Two grants, one for $650 and the other for $1,750, are available to qualifying small businesses.
Eligible businesses must be workplace food gardens who employ less than 50 people are are located in cities throughout the state of Vermont. A total of 9 grants will be awarded. The grants include money for materials, supplies, and technical assistance.
Businesses with food gardens benefit communities in many ways. Whether they share food with employees, or donate the food to a local food bank, it results in people working together to provide fresh, healthy produce from local suppliers.
The grants are being offered by by the Vermont Health Department, Vermont Community Garden Network, Gardener’s Supply Company, and local garden expert Charlie Nardozzi.
