San Francisco Offering $6.7 Million to Support Small Businesses
San Francisco is funding $6.7 million over the next two years to support small business. The additional funds are part of San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee's Invest in Neighborhood Initiative (IIN), the Office of Small Business, and the Small Business Development Center.

What the funds will provide

With the additional funding, the city will be able to provide more services to help small businesses grow. These will include:

  • Support for low-income and minority women business owners
  • Disaster recovery funds to help small businesses recover from disasters to commercial buildings
  • Helping restaurant and other food businesses by accelerating the permit process
  • Expand the program that provides help for façade and tenant improvements to buildings
  • Provide more legal services and legal assistance

San Francisco's Invest in Neighborhoods Initiative has awarded over 20 grants to businesses totaling almost $450,000 in just the past year to improve neighborhoods. In addition, they program has awarded a total of $480,000 to 31 businesses for facade improvements and provided 118 loans totaling $4.6 million to small businesses.
