The Texas Workforce Commission
The Texas Workforce Commission is allocating $2 million for grants to support small business training through its Skills for Small Business program. Small businesses can receive up to $1,800 to train new workers and up to $900 to train existing workers. Training must be taken at a community or technical college or the Texas Engineering Extension Service.
Benefits of program
Employees can take courses in financial services, marketing, general management, human resources, logistics and project management. Midland College has partnered with Workforce Solutions to offer an Accelerated Business Certificate program for small business employees. The program will accelerate career potential for employees and provide a more skilled workforce for small business employers.
The Texas Workforce Commission began the Small Business program in 2010 and has so far awarded $5.7 million in grants for training that will meet the needs of small businesses. The Texas Workforce Commission is a governmental agency in Texas that provides unemployment benefits and services related to employment to eligible individuals and businesses in Texas.
