Pennsylvania's Small Business Advantage Grant program is designed to support small businesses in their efforts to invest in energy-efficiency or pollution-prevention projects. The Department of Environmental Protection recently awarded another $996,713 in grants to 134 small businesses who are doing just that.
Eligible businesses must have 100 or fewer employees. The grants are up to $9,500 each and provide matching grant money for the cost of projects that will save 25 percent a year in the prevention of pollution or in energy savings.
Projects can include installation of high-efficiency HVAC systems, high-efficiency lighting, and installation of energy-efficient heat pumps. These and other related projects that save energy and are friendly to the environment are eligible for the grant program.
The goal of the grant program is to support small business owners across Pennsylvania and to encourage more business owners to help protect the environment against pollution and do their part in conserving the country's energy for future use. The grant program has awarded more than $8.5 million in grants to more than 1776 small businesses across the state since 2004.
